Artist Statement

hese images are the result of my search for a unique view of the landscape. They are found images from the real world photographed in natural light. They are microcosms of light, space, form, texture and

tone. Most of the subjects are framed without familiar reference points. Lack of a greater context makes them difficult to recognize and classify. They become abstract, otherworldly, and sometimes almost psychedelic — not what they looked like in real life but a new extension of that reality. I want the viewer to reconsider reality and look at these images as if they are seeing something alien and fascinating for the first time. While I hope the images elicit serious concentration and thought, I also intend them to be playful and beautiful objects to look at.
